Ovule Number and Flower Size in Pea (Pisum sativum L.): Variation, Heritability, and Correlation with Some Components of Productivity

چکیده
The seed yield in pea (Pisum sativum L.) depends on numerous environmental and genotypic factors. ongoing climate changes draw one’s attention to genetics variation of underexplored reproductive traits. This study focuses ovule number (ON) flower size expressed as a length flag petal (FL), terms their heritability, variability, correlation with 1000 mass (TSM), per pod, seed/ovule ratio. A set accessions was planted over several years field conditions. Some these were also grown glasshouse. chosen values scored living plants or while harvesting seeds. Nonparametric statistical methods applied. Heritability ON FL studied five hybrid F1/F2 combinations. We found relatively low (ca. 0.5) broad sense heritability both FL. Among other traits, TSM reproduced best the years. exhibited no reproducible correlations traits cannot be used predictor productivity. Water deficit heat stress reduce due abortion development fewer ovules. differential heritable ability retain may become basis for breeding cultivars adapted changing climate.

متن کاملPea (Pisum sativum L.) Growth Mutants
This review is devoted to the Pisum sativum L. growth mutants. These mutants are presented by several groups of plants. The first group is characterized by short internodes (dwarf mutants le, na, lk, la, lh, ls) or by elongated internodes (slender mutant sln). The stem growth of mutants of both types (dwarf and slender) is controlled by hormones (GA and IAA) in the stem or in seeds. Mutants cha...
متن کاملRole of nitrogen content of pea (Pisum sativum L.) on pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris) establishment
The leaf nitrogen content is generally accepted as an indicator of food quality and as a factor affecting host selection by phytophagous insects. The alate pea aphids (Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris, Aphididae) were given a choice among non-nodulated pea plants (Pisum sativum L.) supplied with one of four nitrate-N levels (0, 3, 15 and 30 mM). When whole plants were exposed to aphids for 7 days, th...
متن کاملThe Yield and Yield Components of Pea (pisum Sativum L.) as Influenced by Salicylic Acid
The effects of 0 M, 10 M and 10 M salicylic acid (SA) applied by three different modes (seed treatment, seed treatment plus foliar spray and foliar spray) in four pea (Pisum sativum L.) varieties viz., Meteor, Climax, Greenfeast and Rondo were evaluated. Among the varieties the highest green pod yield of 5255 Kg ha was obtained in variety Meteor followed by variety Greenfeast (4452 Kg ha). The ...
